| Ren Kapur: excellence. |
A former boss at the Institute of Sales and Marketing management (ISMM) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) has moved to training company Silent Edge in a bid to promote standards in sales. Ren Kapur, who was at one time ISMM deputy CEO (chief executive officer), joined the company as director of special projects on 1 July.
Kapur told ModernSelling.com: ‘I have been in sales all my life and there is a burning desire within me to create a standard of excellence in the sales industry.’
Sales institute
In her previous role as director IPS (Institute of Professional Sales), Kapur was part of a move to revive the CIM’s involvement in the sales profession by helping to set up a new sales body.
ISMM
Prior to that, Kapur worked alongside ISMM chairman Sheila Watson-Challis as a board director, including acting as public spokesperson for the institute. She joined the ISMM as a consultant and then became the full-time corporate development director in a mainly client-facing role, while also supporting the director of education in recruiting ‘accredited centres’ to deliver ISMM sales qualifications in the UK.
National champion
Kapur is one of five government ‘national champions’ on the 14-19 Reform programme supporting young people, schools and employers alongside the likes of the CEO of IBM, VP of Wates Plc, MD of Brompton Bicycles and CEO of HM Courts Service.
Sales competency frameworks
Kapur said: ‘I have had the privilege of working with great institutes in the past who interact with sales training providers across the UK. One company that has stood out for me all along that journey is Silent Edge. They have a practical and objective set of sales competency frameworks, and associated tailored development programmes, that are unrivalled in the market place, which truly embed positive behavioural change in sales managers and their teams.’
She added: ‘What stands out to me has been Silent Edge's ability to drive revenues and ROI (return on investment) for every client they work with and this is the vital difference that is imperative to me, my clients and their stakeholders. Given the choice of companies out there, I am proud to be associated with Silent Edge.’
Impact
Commenting on the appointment, Silent Edge managing director Russell Ward said: ‘I have worked closely with Ren over the last few years and have admired the impact she has made in every organisation she has worked in.
‘Ren has a passion to create standards and qualifications in the sales Industry and recognises the need to create a benchmark for sales people to aim for in terms of excellence. We provide that at Silent Edge and Ren is going to help us entrench that in commercial and educational organisations around the world.’
