I did mention on a blog, or posting, (in a distant galaxy far, far away), that one possibility for sales people operating online would be for them to be thought of as “paid bloggers”.
I had in mind the problems of trying to replicate the 20th Century sales systems and employment techniques that we see in 98% of sales vacancy adverts offering commissions and incentives for making x number of phone calls, getting leads, setting up appointments or, indeed, signing new and continuing business deals.
Imagine my surprise then when I read that our marketing cousins have already doused themselves in sticky coat of snake-oil, and are out and about recruiting child labour (our children!) to do exactly that! And not necessarily with any degree of integrity, product knowledge, or trust built in. These people could give selling a bad name…
