Calling all London-based SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises)! Dragons’ Den star James Caan and design guru Sir Terence Conran are amongst business luminaries judging the London Export Awards, organised by UK Trade & Investment.

Opened by the Minister for Trade, Investment and Small Business, Lord Davies of Abersoch, the awards are supported by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson and sponsored by Barclays.

However, if you want to enter your company you only have a week, with the closing date for nominations being noon on 29 January 2010.

Categories include London’s Best Newcomer, London’s Young Exporter and the following sector categories:

  • London’s Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing Exporter of the Year;
  • London’s Creative Industries Exporter of the Year;
  • London’s Financial, Business & Professional Services Exporter of the Year;
  • London’s Life Sciences Exporter of the Year; and 
  • London’s Technology Exporter of the Year.

The winners will be announced on 10 February at BAFTA Piccadilly. With the Evening Standard as media partner, there will be plenty of publicity opportunities, not to mention free BA flights for the winners!
