Oh for Pete's sake - or mine - somebody please call or prod or poke or blog or knock or whatever it is we do now...
Right, good, so that's all nice and clear now.
Ebook!? Where did I put that then...I know, try...
ModernSelling.com Media Pack 2012 - eBook
Got it?
Excellent - so now you've seen the movie, read the book, and all you need is a T-Shirt (and a few people to show it off to)? Well, they do look remarkably like your own LinkedIn profile these days, so click that link, log in, and let's talk, blog, prod, poke, chat, phone, email or something...
Late Edition - Addition (essential if eBook read sounded any alarm bells)
Questions & Comments
Who is that bloke!?
Yep - it's still me, and if you click on my name below, you'll see how this LinkedIn gizmo works.

Do you do them in XXXL?
Perhaps you should do a t-shirt around this... tune into Denis over at http://www.freelancecartoonist.eu ... tell him I sent you and he's sure to double the price ... bum, bum!

And who the heck is "Jon Davey" when he's at home...
Hang on a minute, isn't that a link on his name there...
...ah yes! It's all coming back to me now. The one and same who mentioned on the phone a couple of years back that I might like to explore where free-to-make and distribute MyeBook might take me....
http://www.myebook.com/modernselling/
...(oh about half a million reads and counting Jon, thanks), and then solved my VoIP - webinar disaster by pointing out that webcams have microphones built in of course, and prices start at £20 down at Comet.
So there I am, and there he is.
Can't afford any T-Shirts though Jon, sorry, I blew the budget on more lengthy reading matter...

Multipack MultiMedia Thing
Hi Neil,
I just watched your video. I think its brilliant and made me smile a lot.
I will check the ebook out.
I am contacting you because I need some advice...... I am looking for a presenter to volunteer (unpaid but get the contact and exposure with the attendees, I do all the leg work driving attendees to the event etc) who has in depth experience managing sales teams.
At this particular one we are not discussing social media but Field Sales + Territory + Sales Performance. Attendees will be influential people within companies (CIO's, Directors etc etc)
Ideally I want someone who will be a great hook on the invites but also someone who is approachable and people friendly.
Any advice would be amazing.
Hope your well?
Kind Regards
Charlotte

It's all about who we know, and who they know
Hi Charlotte - and thank you kindly for your smiles that make me smile too.
In terms of knowing all their is to know about field sales teams and what they should or should not do, and with millions of live cases statistically presented so we can all see, I cannot think of better than Alan Timothy over here...
http://www.modernselling.com/news-and-events/business-conferences-exhibitions-events/the-game-sales-strategy-23-february-2012-london-alan-timothy-peter-michie-patrick-mosimann-20114047.aspx
And his iSnapshot product works WITH CRM, rather than instead of it, but anyway where your Enigen site...
http://www.enigen.eu/?lang=en
...suggests you're recommending "best from a range of top" rather than being wedded to any single one?
He's a lovely fellah too, and was in demand as the Top-Guest speaker at a recent Global Sales something or other in Poland I think.
If you need front-line Sales Director rather than any version of supplier and problem solver though, my new acquaintance Nick Porter, over here...
http://www.modernselling.com/news-and-events/sales-editorial-comment/CIM-SLA-Sales-Leadership-Alliance-Marketing-Sales-Fusion-discussion-Neil-Warren-20124057.aspx
...might be your man, because our phone chat yesterday confirmed to me that he's on the same crazy mission I started back in '86, to do his darn-tootin' best to professionalise and get recognition for the UK Sales Profession, and that's getting him into some interesting and influential places too.
And if you play your login with LinkedIn cards right on the site here, and maybe link back to this like I have to that, I guess you, me, they and everyone else will be able to witness whatever it is come to light before their very eyes, and find it all the more appealing for that.
Hope this helps, at the very least though - and best regards to you too - Neil

All "their" is!?
...all there is...of course (and "edit" facilities also on my wish-list).

Thank you
Dear Neil,
Thank you so much for your advise. As always, completely and utterly wonderful.
I will check them out.
Thank you so much and I look forward to watching your next video :-)
Best Regards

Can't you just pretend Mr McPheat!?
She freaked when she thought she was going to appear in public without full war paint and glad rags, but I told her nobody (apart from the odd highly observant weirdo) would even notice...so now look at the trouble you've caused ;-)
This is how Mrs Warren prefers to be seen though, Mr, Mrs and Ms General Public and Passing Readers...

Learning LinkedIn from The Experts
Passing readers might be getting the idea that we're quite BIG on LinkedIn here at ModernSelling.com?
Good ;-)
So then, in no particular order, may I bring you (free) word from the USA via HubSpot, but where I cannot vouch for the content having not troubled myself this particular time...
http://www.hubspot.com/eBooks/learning-linkedin-from-the-experts/
And alternatively point you at Sean / MTD's new courses, where you can have your hand held and maybe make a bit more sense of it all if you have some colleagues in tow, for example, and need a "team" or "corporate" angle on this too...
http://www.mtdsalestraining.com/linkedintraining.htm
...because I do know that UK sales teams and training them are very much his thing.

Are there any ModernSelling.com testimonials?
(Thanks Charlotte - and maybe come back and tell us what you learn-test-prove is good?)
Meanwhile, back to a bit of hardcore selling (and marketing / PR - see "eselling" book), I noted that I hadn't found room for a testimonial in there about the wonderful ModernSelling.com main site - just the Miller Heiman one about blended data searches from Sales Direction Database when fishing for whales.
So, bearing in mind that Fiona was talking about a time when these discussion options using LinkedIn login were not an option (pre-April 2011), but "discussing" nonetheless the Seven Sins of Sales Management, here...
http://www.modernselling.com/work-skills/sales-management-training/seven-sins-of-sales-management-20093104.aspx
...this is what she said last month, as part of this LinkedIn Group discussion...

"...Thanks for re-posting my 'Seven Sins' article! I got more new business from that one article than any other article or book I have produced, so thanks again for your help Neil..."

Company LinkedIn Pages

George Orwell - 1984 - Big Brother Watching You - You Watching Big Brother!

And Big Brother Oracle buys Toddler Taleo for $1.9Billion
Stay with me here folks. The thinking is, just like in my media pack, that we all need to be able to see and trust each other, for meaningful business communications.
The question then is whether that will be via a "Command & Control" employer-imposed profile like Taleo...
http://www.taleo.com/solutions/talent-grid-talent-exchange
...or a more freely built "Connect & Collaborate" profile like LinkedIn? My personal take being that we can only really keep one version of us going online, and for business that's LinkedIn. (I have loads of parked stuff like Plaxo, Naymz, Viadeo, Ecademy and so on).
Then you might be curious to also note from the Taleo reckoning (see Products)...
http://www.taleo.com/solutions
...that you're a "small" business until you get to 5,000 employees, notwithstanding the fact that the average headcount per business in the USA even, has dropped from 25 in the 1980's to about 10 today (see The World is Flat, if I recall).
And then even you, yes little old you, might be in a better position to weigh up whether that was a sensible (or maybe desperate?) couple of billion spent by "colourful" Larry Ellison...
http://www.enterpriseappstoday.com/management-software/oracle-acquires-taleo-for-1.9-billion.html
...to boost some of our CRM systems. And e.g. with RightNow having been bought and closed, at the bottom there, I note.

Proof that Neil hasn't lost all his marbles, just yet....
Many, many moons ago (2010) I recorded another little video thing, with a more professional assistant (Richard Nolan - well mentor really, I just read the script) and looking at how the web might just creep ever more into the average UK sales person's life. See if you can then spot the mention / sight of Phil Roebuck, and ex-Dragon James Caan, of Webrecruit...
http://www.modernselling.com/work-tools/sales-software-systems-technology/sales-2.0-video-20103645.aspx
So then knock me down with a feather, if the self-same Phil, doesn't pop-up over here...
http://www.linkedin.com/groups/LinkedIn-is-vital-key-webrecruit-1988204.S.97013545
...AND referring to LinkedIn, Taleo, Oracle, Forbes and all the rest!
It's either a very small world, or a vast and complexly interwoven one, or I just won the lottery, or is that a meteor - can't decide (they're coming to take me away ha-ha hee-hee....)

On the use of video in B2B selling (and marketing) in the UK...
We've got my feeble (but fun and engaging) example above here, and one Sean made earlier (which I loved)...
http://www.modernselling.com/news-and-events/business-conferences-exhibitions-events/get-out-of-the-office-attend-sean-mcpheat-sales-summit-2011-questions-answers-20114039.aspx
Some of you may also know that I'm connected (over a life-time of friendship and now with some business connections too) to Jeremy Spiller...
http://www.modernselling.com/news-and-events/webinar-corner/marketers-tale-workshop-webinar-discussion-tips-series-sharon-drew-morgen-jeremy-spiller-peter-johnston-20114029.aspx
...who happens to run a "Marketing" company (SEO and web design and build / host), but where I got an email in yesterday evening, showing signs of a distinct shift to more engaging sales communications of all sorts, and training to go along with that.
Anyway, have a look at their new site and the intro video, and tell me / us what you think...
http://www.whitehatmedia.com/
E.g. have they properly used their "hovis" (brown bread = head) there?

re: Tal
I just love the line in Taleo:
"Provide a great Candidate experience by connecting to the Talent Exchange community and inviting Candidates to participate. "
We're having Candidate experiences now are we?

Singapore Calling!...
Hello Stuart - I nearly missed this "overnight" email prod, my end, but thanks to the wizardry of "log in with LinkedIn", I can now click your name and see that we're in slightly different time zones, so I may not be "late" replying after all.
The whole jobs-board issue was also up for discussion, if you check this discussion in our LinkedIn Group out...
http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Perhaps-this-is-one-reasons-1328087.S.105358899
...and by clicking through to Webrecruit where it started, you'll even meet people who work with people who used to be Dragons - and you can't get any more inscrutable or Oriental than that - can you!
