SALES ADVICE FROM APPRENTICE GRIMES

Kristina Grimes: close.
Readers probably best know KRISTINA GRIMES as runner-up to Simon Ambrose in the third series of The Apprentice, where she starred alongside the notorious Katy Hopkins. A former pharmaceutical sales manager, she now runs a business performance company with fellow Apprentice contestant Jenny Celerier (series four). Here are her top three sales tips.

ONE Close, close, close!

About 85% of salespeople are terrified to ‘close the sale’. It’s the point where the whole sales process gets personal to the individual; nobody likes to be told they have failed so many don’t close because of this. Remember, to fail to close is to fail to progress. We learn by any outcome: the only failure is if you fail to try!

TWO Get out there

The top sales people will network all the time; it doesn’t necessarily mean you make the sale immediately but it will guarantee that everyone knows who you are and what you do. Then, when it comes to your contacts needing to use a product such as yours, you will be in the forefront of their brain and one of the first to be contacted.

THREE Plan your week ahead

It may sound boring, it may sound repetitive, but to wake up on a Monday morning knowing your agenda escalates you in front of your competitors and motivates you to start your Monday morning with a bang!

Kristina Grimes and Jenny Celerier are organising ‘Raising the Bar’ – a one-day business event dedicated to giving forward-thinking business leaders the tools, knowledge, enthusiasm and connections to get ahead in 2009. It takes place on 26 March at Harrogate International Centre, Kings Road, Harrogate, North Yorkshire HG1 5LA. Registration is from 07:45-08:45. To book your place, please call 0800 822 3406. Various special offers are available.
