NO ADHESIVE BUT IT STICKS LIKE GLUE

YUPOTako: micro suction effect.
Can you remember a time before Velcro – how did we get by without it in the automotive or exhibition industries or, indeed, simply to do up our trainers? A similar breakthrough moment may have arrived with the launch this month of the oddly named YUPOTako.

Stick and re-stick

YUPOTako is a synthetic paper that sticks to flat surfaces and can be removed as many times as necessary, making it ideal for creative applications such as banners and labels, and for presentations. The product – which launched in the UK on 6 June – is neither a self adhesive sticker nor a static film.

The manufacturers say that no glue or bonding agent is used, there is no sticky feeling or glue remaining on applied surfaces and there are no bubbles to contend with. It is not made of PVC, so is environmentally friendly, and its base materials are 100% recyclable.

Octopus

Tako, meaning ‘octopus’ in Japanese, is named because of the patented micro suction structure on its reverse side which acts like an octopus skin.

YUPOTako, distributed in Europe by YUPO Europe GmbH is commonly used for highly visible applications: floor banners with lamination, wall banners, vending machine advertisements, labels for refrigerators and computers, fast food campaigns and kids games are just a few recent applications.

Easy handling

A major advantage of YUPOTako is its easy handling: no special expertise or personnel are required to apply a banner or label. And if it’s handled so much that it gets a bit dusty on the backside, it can simply be washed with water and the fun begins again.

YUPOTako comes in four different forms for different printing methods – sheet offset, silk screen and UV digital, water base inkjet and eco solvent base inkjet.
